I am completely sure Neopets stands as the leading pick. Every gamer spent many hours on Neopets website to look after virtual pets while discovering everything in the game. The game presented a complete virtual digital realm for players.

Tamagotchi is one of the most influential pet games as they originally started the virtual pets concept, followed by Digimon.

Then, Neopets took it one step further by turning the “digital virtual pets” hand held concept into a browser based game, which years later resulted in various other virtual pet sites being developed as well.

Without Tamagotchi, I don’t believe we’d have a whole industry of virtual pet games as we do now.

Digimon also played their part after Tamagotchi’s success since they came right after Tamagotchi with their own digital vpet.

However, the success of Tamagotchi and Neopets played a vital role in influencing the genre.

It's not only on Neopets. There are other pets that have same features like Tamagotchi and Digimon. All are doing their best to become better.
