Is the X app finally dead?

I will be the rebel commenter on here and say what X did was very good and Zuckerberg now kow-towing to free speech proves it.

And a lot of people are sick of a nanny state. Some also believe this nanny state is a Trojan horse to initiate genocide.

Anyway, though, I'm not supporter of hate speech or Trump's mouth but the whole WOKE thing is worse. It's all a con-job in the disguise of kindness.
I think X has suffered some setbacks mainly because of the unsatisfactory approach on policies regarding hate speech and misinformation. Many people are now staying away from the platform because of the moderators’ less strict approach compared to other social media sites' approach.

Absolutely on point! Most of the users are now not keen to stick to the platform because they get bullied a couple of times, which is sad.

The X app has become a place where only the account with the blue ticks get what they want in terms of post length and even audience. Do you think this is not free speech and has signalled an end to how useful the app is?
That's an interesting point. What is more worrying is the minimum/maximum number of characters that can be posted. This has generated some questions on the aspects of free speech and fairness.

Im with Jason on this... Elon was a breath of fresh air to twitter. He got rid of the left wing fact checkers and those playing political games with the platform. He cleaned house!
Well, with Reddit moderators now blocking X/Twitter links throughout Reddit, it’ll hurt Twitter in the long run, as they were likely getting a lot of free traffic from the platform.

I don’t see this move helping Twitter. It will likely cause the platform to lose traction, as more users may start leaving in droves.

On Tuesday, users in various Reddit sports communities — starting with r/hockey, which has 2.7M members, and spreading to individual Canadian hockey subreddits and then Premier League and NFL forums — began talking about whether it’s time to officially cut X out of their lives, with massive amounts of approval for the action from its users.

The discussions center on a mounting frustration with Musk’s leadership, including the platform’s apparent embrace of hate speech and far-right agitators, its increasingly user-hostile interface changes (such as forcing non-logged-in users to create accounts to view posts), and, of course, musk himself

Reddit moderators just sealed the end of Twitter's ability to grow new users. Their platform's growth might decrease because they will lose essential free traffic.

Exactly. Musk has also stated that Twitter’s user growth has been stagnant lately as well.

There isn’t much they can do without attracting new users to the platform. Bluesky will now probably see an uptick of new users from this move, but only time will tell.

I see more celebrities and news outlets moving over, which isn’t a good thing. Twitter used to be a great platform for networking and connecting with users, but now they throttle certain things with their algorithms.

Elon Musk should sit up if he wants to see Twitter grow better again. There is some bullying going on there, which on a normal day is not allowed on any other platform. If the X app team can take punishing such acts seriously, a better level of sanity will return over there.

I had three premium+ accounts but I've recently let them expire.

It's all either Musk fanboys, political fanboys, or people trying to make money through posting quotes LOL

X was better when it was Twitter I'm afraid to say.

The free speech, which they always talk about, was even better when it was called Twitter than now they call it X. Nowadays, we don't know what to say again about what is happening with the X app.

Twitter is probably not dead. I think Muskrat has probably conditioned the entire site to cater to his own opinions, which is super ironic considering he said he was "for free speech". I'm not on social media anymore, other than facebook messenger, if that counts. Also Discord.

Musk is very active on X. I think the free speech he was talking about was him having a platform to express himself as much as he wants without any issues.

X has been sold to Elon Musk’s other company.

Billionaire Elon Musk said his xAI artificial intelligence startup has acquired the X platform for $33 billion, marking a surprise twist for the social network formerly known as Twitter.

“The combination values xAI at $80 billion and X at $33 billion,” he wrote in an X post on Friday. The X value is $45 billion when including $12 billion of debt, he said. It was an all-stock transaction.
Elon Musk

Since its founding two years ago, xAI has rapidly become one of the leading AI labs in the world, building models and data centers at…

“xAI and X’s futures are intertwined,” he said. “Today, we officially take the step to combine the data, models, compute, distribution and talent. This combination will unlock immense potential by blending xAI’s advanced AI capability and expertise with X’s massive reach.”

I think this move boils down to Musk’s plan to making “X” an everything app, however, this also means that everything that’s posted on X will directly be fed into the AI system.

Yeah, that's very correct. It's what he designed Grok to do with all the contents that have been posted on Twitter/X for years.

I'm actually using the beta app version of Grok now. It's not bad at all.

It might be the truth in whatsoever decisions he's taking. Having a platform to say his mind might be a dream come true for him and not for others that are making use of X.
I don't think he's suppressing other users from using X as a platform to express themselves when they wanted or how they felt like. I haven't heard a user's account was banned unjustly since he took over.

He might not suppress other users but people are much careful in what they post online to avoid banning, the same way it's happening on Facebook.
