I was having a conversation with a friend who said that she's never believed in New Year Resolutions and found them to be silly and hilarious. I argued that people can make those promises and stick to it, but she was not buying into that. Do you agree with her mentality?

I never bother making any New Years Resolutions myself, as I know they'll almost certainly be out of the window by the end of January. I do like hearing about other peoples' plans and promises to themselves, but I always hold them with a bit of skepticism... never really understood why people feel the need to share their "get fit" plans for year or similar, especially when they know deep down it won't last. 🤣

The part where one would need the consistency is where I think people fail to push. It's not been easy for anyone at all to keep pushing at that rate. They will always want to continue with their new year resolution, but that is not as easy as we make it look.

Honestly I used to make New Year Resolutions, but I never went through with them. xD I think lots of people set a goal, start it right away in January and then forget about it as the year goes on.

Being consistent with New Year's resolutions is where a lot of people make mistakes. Assuming that they can get better at it, everything will surely look better and great.
I think the problem is they set a high expectations on what they want to do as their new year's resolution. It's why they keep breaking it.

It can be one of the reasons. Setting such high standards can be discouraging and not healthy for anyone planning to make changes in the New Year. Setting realistic goals should come first at all times.

no one ever keeps them
Someone might but we wouldn't know. I will agree most people don't keep it.

Yes, it's why they mostly fail at it.

I had a new year's resolution not to drink alcoholic beverages in 2025. Unfortunately, I have already broken that resolution 😂 😂 😂

😂 I'm right there with you! Sometimes it feels like our brains expect us to be able to transform into someone new overnight starting. To be honest, it's really a battle field and it isn't easy at all.

I wouldn't say that New Year's Resolutions are silly or hilarious, I used to make them myself some years ago but because I couldn't always stick to them or even complete them,I stopped.
