Best way to build hype for a upcoming virtual pet site

I would say probably through social media sites like tumblr, instagram, youtube I think anywhere you have social interactions and can share media is where I tend to find new pet sites. I also notice some through kickstarter or doing a beta/alpha test I've found a few through testing phases.

I would go with the traditional blog posting method.

Find reviews of similar sites and see if they have open comments.

Write a thoughtful review comparing yours to theirs and drop a link in your name. It's a tried and true method that works to this day.

When you’re first starting to build your pet site, it’s a good idea to preview its pets, items, world maps, and screenshots of upcoming features.

I’d also recommend creating videos that showcase the gameplay and highlight what your pet site will offer. If you’re unable to make videos, try reaching out to video content creators who can do so, and have them feature your game on TikTok and YouTube. This approach can help generate a lot of hype.

The earlier you start building excitement for your game, the better your chances of establishing a solid user base in the long run.

If you have Adobe Creative Cloud...

I would suggest building out a prototype of your game using Adobe XD. Of course, it's non-functioning, and just what it could be. However, it could save you a ton of time by making the prototype and then building off it to see if it's even possible, rather than building an actual functioning prototype. It also would save you time because if something doesn't work in a functioning prototype, you would have to scrap it, which could be a lot of work. Instead, design it in XD and then determine if it fits your site and if it can be implemented. If it can't, you didn't waste as much time trying.

But, you could market the prototype in XD. However, that could be bad if you can't deliver on what you designed, unless you get really close to what you came up with in the prototype or can market it as "coming soon" (though, you can only market as "coming soon" for so long before it'd irritate members).

I have seen pet site use pre-launch teasers and Q&A sessions to create anticipation and it works. It's will get the audience engaged and talking about the site.

I think Reddit and youtube are the best sites to build a hype for your virtual pet site. If you are not famous on these sites, you can work with influencers.

Reddit and YouTube are wonderful in creating anticipation. It can also help if you work with influencers. You can also use other S.M. such as twitter and instagram to create awareness and post updates of a virtual pet site.

I agree about Twitter but I am not sure if Instagram can be too useful. I have not tried it for promotion so I don't have any experience but my assumption is based on the type of content we see there

Instagram could work well as long as you post images of your game along with descriptions to help users learn more about it. This is especially helpful for building a fan base and generating hype.

However, it’s better to focus on platforms you’re familiar with and collaborate with someone more experienced in using specific platforms.

If you’re comfortable with Twitter, Bluesky is another great option for building hype. As a newer social media network, it offers the potential for quicker engagement compared to major platforms, especially if you use relevant hashtags to reach a larger audience.

To build a hype of the site that is related to virtual pets, certain actions should be taken. First of all, using social media such as Instagram and Twitter, can become a good step. Simply posting hype building visuals and descriptions should be able to generate interest. This also brings in other advantages because working with influencers or outstanding marketers in the current society can also assist one in extending his/her coverage.
