What inspired you to become a programmer?

What inspired you to become a programmer? Did a friend inspire you or did the internet inspire you to become a programmer? Also, how did you learn how to code?

Hacking inspired me on AOL2.5. That was alongggg time ago.

I wanted to be like the people on the movies and shows but realized it was a lot harder and backed out.

@cpvr VPL inspired me to become a programmer, when I first join this community my plans were to build, and code my own pet site.
I had some success, using codes that were released to the community, and customizing them to my needs. I learned a lot from that.

Video games inspired my creativity to attempt programming. Right now html and css is my main knowledge and little php but there's so much I want to learn. The advanced technology is what sparked my interest.

Wanting to create features for the original ZetaBoards software inspired me to get into programming. I've never had a programming job, but I've always done it more as a hobby. I create various codes/skins for the Jcink software now.
