Push Notifications: yay or nay?

Push notifications let you receive updates whenever something you’ve enabled them for gets updated. Are you a fan of push notifications, or not really?


If you are, do you find them helpful in staying up to date with the websites you’re active on, like social media, forums, and email?


If push notifications aren’t your thing, what do you dislike most about them?



Would you say push notifications have changed the internet for the better?

No for me. I always decline push notifications on every site. I hate getting a bunch of notifications. It makes it hard to relax, and focus on what I'm doing.

I use push notifications but everything is always on silent in my smartphone. I will only see the pop up of the notification and have it checked out.

My phone's buzzing every second with some random app trying to get my attention is annoying. I think the biggest problem is how apps abuse them. It's not about the useful updates, it's about getting you back into their app. So for me, it's a “nay”.

I don't use them all that much.
To be honest, they are good but I just find them annoying... And i haven't enabled them in any website so far

Not really, unless it's tied to something important. I get a lot of updates and notifications, so I get overwhelmed sometimes.

I wouldn't say I use push notifications too often but I have been known to use them for sites in which I am staff or that I run to help me stay on track of things.

I subscribe to push notification with my email app, a few social media apps, and finance apps (wallets, bank accounts, crypto wallets and exchanges).

Yeah, it's definitely a must to be active on websites where I'm currently working as a staff member. The promptness of those notifications makes it easier for me to keep up with things at all times.

This is why I use them as well. I don’t use them for any other reason. I’d rather not miss things that are important and need my attention right away.

I keep other notifications on silent, such as social media notifications and email though.
