Have you donated blood?

How do you feel about donating blood to someone? It can be to your family or randomly at the hospital or with the red cross? I have only donated blood once in my life but haven't had the need to do it again. But I wouldn't mind donating my blood to any of my immediate family members.

I’ve donated blood a few times in the past, but I don’t anymore as I have low blood platelets.

I have always wanted to donate blood to someone either my immediate family members or my friends but I haven't done that yet. There was a time when our neighbor's daughter was very sick and she was my age mate. They are looking for a donor but didn't see any. When the children in the yard were checked, I was a match to her but my parents didn't allow that because they were afraid that something bad would happen to me, I guess it was out of ignorance.

Your good health comes first before donating blood. You can't be battling with health issues that are critical and be thinking about donating blood.

I don't have any problems with donating my blood but it's going to be for a good cause and not for some hospital that want to make money off my blood which I donated freely.

I don't think there is anything wrong in anything blood as long as it is you doing a work of charity or support to someone by helping to save their life by donating your blood for them.

The opportunity to donate blood has become a rewarding practice for me because I have done it several times before. It means a great deal to me that my blood could be used to save someone's life.

I don’t think so either, especially since a lot of people may need blood. Especially in hospitals and such. I’ve donated a few times to the Red Cross. If my blood can help save lives, I’m all for it.

Exactly! A friend of mine was suffering from kidney problem last year and I was willing to donate blood for her but unfortunately our blood group didn't match.

It always feels like you have a permanent connection with someone you have donated blood for. I don't know if another person feels that way about donating blood.

Do you go to a plasma center to do this? Generally most plasma centers give you a donation for donating plasma.

I know that there’s a few areas in Texas that pay you $75-150 per donation of plasma, but I’m not entirely sure what the rates are for other states.

I have a low red blood cell count which prevents me from donating it ;_;
