Are for or against disciplining kids by rod?

My mother flogged the hell out of me when I was still a kid. She so much believe in using the rod to train kids and correct them as punishment when they do something bad. Parents today doesn't use the rod but mostly ground their kids when they do something out of the line.

"Spare the rod and spoil the child or spoil the rod and spare the child". These are the exact words my mom used to tell me whenever she was flogging me. She told me that if she spare the rod, I will be useless in life and she doesn't want that. Thanks to her, I am not useless.

For me, I can't kill my children with rod but I will make sure I give them the dosage of that rod when they really misbehave.

Parents of today doesn't pay much attention to their child upbringing. They pamper their kids too much which makes kids today become so arrogant. I support using the rod in a just manner when disciplining kids.

It's why when I see parents who never paid much attention to training their kids in the right way start wailing, I don't feel any pity for them.
