Why do some like him? Why do some not like him? Why might some feel in-between on the matter?

Do you believe his X site is a success or will be? What are some pros and cons of it? Do you feel Facebook's recent free speech thing is a victory for Musk?

The high time we believe that Elon Musk is always with unconventional business methods, the better. This will normally cause some polarisation. While some enjoy his creativity and passion, some have taken issues with his approach to things.

He has relatively good ideas, especially with Starlink and neuralink. I don’t believe Facebook’s free speech is a victory for Musk as their platform is a lot bigger than X.

I’d say it’s more of a ploy to lessen their moderation tactics as their moderation as been somewhat strict over the years.

He also played a role in Paypal’s development.

There are a couple of concerns in some quarters how he handles the X app. It is what has brought Elon Musk in the open and made some question his decision-making, especially how he used it during the last elections in November.

You’re absolutely right. Twitter’s numbers haven’t been doing well under Musk’s leadership either.

He recently announced that Twitter’s growth has been stagnant, largely due to his own decisions especially considering that he has throttled user links and changed the platform significantly from what it used to be.

X owner Elon Musk said growth on his platform is “stagnant” and revenue is “unimpressive” in a January email to staff that was reported by the Wall Street Journal on Friday.

“And we’re barely breaking even,” he added of the social media site’s finances.

Musk, who also runs SpaceX and Tesla, bought the platform, then known as Twitter, for $44 billion in late 2022. But the company has seen its valuation drop since then, with Fidelity valuing it at $12.32 billion — or 72% less than what Musk paid for it — last month.

I am not surprised at all. What he has done is a great advantage to other social media sites such as Bluesky. If Elon is not careful, more users might be forced to leave the X app.

Zuckerberg is sucking up to free speech now because he's scared of lawsuits. He's being a coward. It's not very admirable and many on the right-wing are rubbing it in, of course.

The undeniable intelligence of Elon Musk needs to be recognized but we also need to pay attention to the advantages he received from his privileged background. The financial advantages combined with first-class educational resources enabled him to make his path to success.

What you're trying to say is that Elon Musk isn't smart?

There's no way in hell I would ever agree with you on that.

He wouldn't be where he is today if he's not smart.
The world recognizes Elon Musk as a visionary figure because of his innovative approach. Through his dedication to work and fearless spirit he disturbed several business sectors while reshaping the world. No one can ignore the accomplishments of this person regardless of their personal feelings towards him.

What he's doing with DOGE is incredibly impressive. We have been talking about now developing countries are so corrupt but DOGE just proved it's worst in America.

It is true and I believe that the developing countries are learning from the developed countries because they have all the technology to steal. DOGE has really dive deep into secrets and raises attention but on the other hand, people are more concerned that Elon Musk is biased with the whole thing. Do you believe so?

The United States of America is definitely better with the establishment of DOGE. It's so good that the man who's running it doesn't have his eyes set on money. He's the richest man in the world at one point or he's still in the 1st spot. It's why corruption will find it impossible to penetrate into DOGE.

It's not really a good system. Doge's system is crap. It's also been responsible for many data leaks, which should have been secured, but they weren't.

Three new complaints seek court orders that would stop the data access and require the deletion of unlawfully accessed data. Two of the complaints also seek financial damages for individuals whose data was accessed.

The US DOGE Service, Elon Musk, the US Office of Personnel Management (OPM), and OPM Acting Director Charles Ezell were named as defendants in one suit filed yesterday in US District Court for the Southern District of New York.

"The Privacy Act [of 1974] makes it unlawful for OPM Defendants to hand over access to OPM's millions of personnel records to DOGE Defendants, who lack a lawful and legitimate need for such access," the lawsuit said. "No exception to the Privacy Act covers DOGE Defendants' access to records held by OPM. OPM Defendants' action granting DOGE Defendants full, continuing, and ongoing access to OPM's systems and files for an unspecified period means that tens of millions of federal-government employees, retirees, contractors, job applicants, and impacted family members and other third parties have no assurance that their information will receive the protection that federal law affords."

The lawsuit names Musk as a defendant "in his capacity as director of the US Doge Temporary Service," which was created by President Trump and has a mandate lasting until July 4, 2026. The temporary organization is separate from the US DOGE Service, which used to be called the US Digital Service. DOGE, of course, is a reference to the popular meme involving a Shiba Inu and in the government context stands for the Department of Government Efficiency.

Data access for “Musk and a cadre of loyalists”

Another lawsuit filed Monday in US District Court for the District of Maryland said that DOGE gained access to records of both government employees and people outside of government:

For example, Defendants Treasury Department and Secretary of the Treasury [Scott] Bessent have improperly disclosed to DOGE representatives the contents of the Federal Disbursement System, which is the government's mechanism for sending payments it owes to individual Americans (as well as other payees). That system contains records relating to every American who receives (among other things) a tax refund, social security benefit, veterans pay, or a federal salary. To facilitate these payments, the system maintains highly sensitive information about millions of Americans, including Social Security numbers, date of birth, bank account information, and home addresses.
The lawsuit in Maryland was filed by the American Federation of Teachers, the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association, the National Federation of Federal Employees, and six individuals. In addition to the Treasury Department and Bessent, defendants include OPM, Ezell, the Department of Education, and Acting Secretary of Education Denise Carter.

"Defendants are permitting Elon Musk and a cadre of loyalists imported from his private companies to help themselves to the personal information of millions of Americans, in violation of [the Privacy Act's] legal requirements," the lawsuit said.

Yet another lawsuit was filed Monday in federal court in the Eastern District of Virginia by the Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC) and one unnamed resident of the district ("Doe 1") who is a federal government employee. The EPIC lawsuit's defendants include OPM, Ezell, the US Treasury Department, Bessent, the US DOGE Service, and the US Doge Service Temporary Organization.

Elon Musk's team within the Trump administration has sought sweeping access to databases that store personal information on millions and millions of Americans.

The General Services Administration, which manages federal real estate, is identifying property to divest, and the agency has abruptly fired more than 1,000 workers and is targeting an overall 63% reduction in headcount at its Public Building Service division.

DOGE's effort to slash government is now coming for buildings and people who run them

The data collected and maintained by the government isn't just your name, home address, and Social Security number.

Some federal agencies store information that many people don't share even with their closest friends and family: Medical diagnoses and treatment. Notes from therapy sessions. Whether a person has filed for bankruptcy. Detailed income information.

And now, Musk's Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, has accessed heavily safeguarded databases that store such personal information, raising deep alarm among federal workers and privacy advocates.

Musk says he is targeting waste and fraud. The executive order establishing DOGE says its purpose is "modernizing Federal technology and software to maximize governmental efficiency and productivity" and it instructs agency heads to ensure DOGE "has full and prompt access to all unclassified agency records, software systems, and IT systems."

But Erie Meyer — who resigned last month from her post as chief technologist at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau after the change in administration — doesn't trust DOGE.

"Part of what is unnerving and is scary both to companies whose data is involved and also Americans whose most sensitive financial information is at risk, is that we don't know what they're doing," she says.

Normally, according to Meyer, federal employees handling sensitive data must pass extensive background checks. But it's not clear what sort of vetting or background checks Musk's staff has undergone.

I bet Musk is throwing all this data into AI systems as well, which would be make everything unsecured. He doesn't need access to everything at all. The doge was put in place for auditing certain things, not for them to have full access to the entire government.

"
The "DOGE" system, officially the "Department of Government Efficiency" (DOGE), is a new advisory body created by President Trump and led by Elon Musk, tasked with finding ways to cut government spending and regulations, and is focused on modernizing federal technology and software. "

That's the main thing it was put in place for. Do they need access to everything else? Absolutely not. If it has nothin to do with money, Doge doesn't need it. He's also gone after government officials, which again, is not his job. He needs to stick to running his companies as trying to run the government isn't his place and he needs to treat it as such.

Those government officials he went after and found out all their ills in running the government, what stopped the supposed agency from doing it? Someone definitely have to do it is what I think, which Elon Musk did.
